C3 Artistic Encounters: An Evening of Titles and Text

Thursday, February 12, 6:00-8:50 p.m.

How can the Museum inspire memorable stories? Join Center for Creative Connections writer-in-residence Kendra Greene for an evening discovering the galleries through language. Explore your own museum memoir, and consider the ekphrastic* power of art to spark poetry and prose as we draw from anecdote, observation, and the very writing on the walls. *Definition: The practice in which one medium of art relates to another medium by defining and describing its essence and form, thereby amplifying its meaning.

Late Night Performance: The 4,000 Words for Light (Abridged)

Friday, February 20, Time TBD

When the exhibition Nur: Light in Art and Science from the Islamic World was on view at the DMA, the Center for Creative Connections asked visitors for one word for light. We made 4,394 contributions. From that found poetry, C3's Writer-in-Residence Kendra Greene composed a portrait of the community. From Jesus to Justin Bieber, experience excerpts from this collaboration in a spoken word performance. All ages are welcome.
