Contemporary Drawings: A Selection from the Gift of Mr. and Mrs. I. C. Deal

Quadrant Galleries, Level 1

May 20–August 28, 2005

Consisting of thirty-four works drawn from the recent gift to the Dallas Museum of Art of 126 contemporary drawings from Mr. and Mrs. I. C. Deal, longtime Dallas residents and DMA patrons, this exhibition presents for the first time the most significant gift to the DMA’s contemporary drawings collection in its history. These works by American and international artists of the 20th century cover a range of styles and materials. Among the artists represented in the gift are Jean Tinguely, Mark Tansey, Robert Cottingham, Leslie Dill, Ellen Phelan, Andy Goldsworthy, and David Nash. The Deal gift will go far in more fully representing this important medium in contemporary art practice and is a major addition to the DMA’s works on paper holdings.
