Go back in time to the Harlem Renaissance with music, dance performances, tours, films, and more! Join noted African American art historian Richard Powell as he discusses the Harlem Renaissance during the 1920s and then explore the exhibition Youth and Beauty: Art of the American Twenties. 
6:00 P.M. Happy Hour featuring The Roger Boykin Trio 6:00–7:00 p.m., Atrium Listen to great jazz music from the time of the Harlem Renaissance, performed by The Roger Boykin Trio, while enjoying happy hour drink specials.
Tinker Tots 6:00–7:30 p.m., Arturo’s Nest, Center for Creative Connections (C3) Create a pop-up cityscape in this activity just for children ages 2-4.
Late Night Creations 6:00–9:00 p.m., Art Studio, C3 Join us in the studio to create your own 1920s-inspired advertisement for a product of your choice.
Dallas Model A Ford Club 6:00–8:00 p.m., Flora Street Entrance Take a look at classic cars from the 1920s and talk with members of the Dallas Model A Ford Club.

7:00 P.M. Fresh Ink featuring Ben Fountain and Alexander Maksik 7:00 p.m., Horchow Auditorium Pick up your free tickets at the Will Call table beginning at 6:00 p.m. Following the program there will be a book signing outside the Museum Store. Discover two exciting new voices in contemporary literature. Ben Fountain’s new novel, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, is a razor sharp satire about a young, reluctant Iraq War hero, home on leave, who finds himself the guest of honor at a Dallas Cowboys football game. Alexander Maksik’s first novel, You Deserve Nothing, is a gripping story of power, idealism, and morality and was featured in Publishers Weekly as one of ten promising debuts.
Making a New World: The Art of the Harlem Renaissance 7:00 p.m., Meet at the Flora Street Visitor Services Desk, Dallas Museum of Art Tour the Youth and Beauty exhibition with Theresa Towner, Professor of Literature, University of Texas-Dallas, and learn about the artists and poets working in the 1920s. An exhibition ticket is required for this tour.
Twitter Treasure Hunts 7:00 p.m., Museum Galleries Keep an eye on @DallasMuseumArt or Twitter.com to see clues for our Twitter Treasure Hunt. The first person to find the work of art will win a prize.
Late Night Art Bytes: Documentary Genre 101 7:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m., and 10:00 p.m., Tech Lab, C3 Explore the basics of documentary film in hands-on workshops with graduate students from the University of North Texas. Digital cameras are provided and each workshop focuses on a different film style. Space is limited; sign up begins at 6:30 p.m.

8:30 P.M Youth and Beauty: Women of the Harlem Renaissance 8:30 p.m., Meet at the Flora Street Visitor Services Desk, Dallas Museum of Art Join Stephanie Cole, Associate Professor of History, University of Texas-Arlington, to explore women, gender, and sexuality in the Harlem Renaissance. An exhibition ticket is required for this tour.
Poetry of the Harlem Renaissance 8:30 p.m., C3 Theater Listen to a reading of poetry from the great Harlem Renaissance writers, including Langston Hughes and Helene Johnson, read by actor Bryan Pitts.
C3 Artistic Encounter with Harold Steward from South Dallas Cultural Center 8:30-10:00 p.m., C3 Join guest performance artist Harold Steward in an interactive Image Theater workshop. Based on the new Community Partner Response Installation Free Association by The South Dallas Cultural Center, use nonverbal expressions to explore issues of oppression.
9:00 P.M. Jungle Beauty: Harlem Renaissance Portraits and Their Marks 9:00 p.m., Horchow Auditorium Dr. Richard Powell, the John Spencer Bassett Professor of Art & Art History at Duke University, surveys the range of "New Negro" representations that appeared during the era of the Harlem Renaissance in painting, sculpture, photography, and film, from sheiks to flappers, and from Paul Robeson to Josephine Baker.

10:00 P.M. Late Night After Hours Music Showcase featuring Exit 380 10:00–11:00 p.m., Atrium Exit 380 has been performing alternative rock in North Texas for over eleven years. The Dallas Morning News stated that their latest release, Townies, “fit beautifully in the current roots-driven, hand-harvested national indie rock scene.”
Presented in partnership with KXT 91.7 10:30 P.M. Stormy Weather 10:30 p.m., Horchow Auditorium Showcasing some of the greatest Harlem Renaissance musicians and actors, Stormy Weather follows Bill Williamson, a soldier just returned from World War I, as he searches for stardom as a performer and meets the lovely singer Selina Rogers, promising to return to her when he “gets to be somebody.” Years pass as their careers rise, intersecting only briefly, and Selina refuses to “settle down.” Will she ever change her mind? Featuring Lena Horne, Bill Robinson, Cab Calloway, and Katherine Dunham. This film is not rated (74 min).
