TWO x TWO for AIDS and ArtTWO x TWO for AIDS and Art is an annual contemporary art auction held in the Richard Meier-designed Rachofsky House in Dallas, benefiting two organizations—the Dallas Museum of Art and amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research. Now in its 12th year, the event has raised over $25 million in support of amfAR’s essential AIDS research programs and for the DMA’s Contemporary Art Acquisitions Fund. The extraordinary success of the event is due to the generosity and enthusiasm of the many artists, dealers, and community leaders and patrons who have helped make TWO x TWO amfAR’s largest fundraiser in the United States and have enabled the DMA to fund contemporary exhibitions and add some seventy-five major works of contemporary art to the collection. Drawing prominent artists, art collectors, and philanthropists from around the world, TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art has evolved into a week full of social events aimed at recognizing the progress of amfAR and engaging the arts community here in Dallas. An eagerly anticipated event that quickly sells out, the benefit features a seated dinner for four hundred guests with both a live and silent auction of major works of contemporary art and unique luxury items. Renowned artists April Gornik, Robert Rauschenberg, Ed Ruscha, Julian Schnabel, Joel Shapiro, Cecily Brown, Tom Friedman, Elizabeth Peyton, Jim Hodges, and Peter Doig have been honored as recipients of the amfAR Award of Excellence for Artistic Contributions to the Fight Against AIDS. Hosts Cindy and Howard Rachofsky are delighted to announce that the 2010 honored artist is Christopher Wool. We would like to acknowledge Lucilo Peña and Suzanne Droese, the 2010 Event Co-Chairmen, and Jennifer Eagle and Derek Wilson, the 2010 Art Co-Chairmen.
