Today at the Museum

Travis Academy

The Travis Academy Museum Program is a partnership between the Dallas Museum of Art and W. B. Travis Academy & Vanguard in Dallas. Twenty 8th grade students visit the Museum multiple times throughout the school year for an in-depth interdisciplinary and interactive study of works of art.

Students make eleven visits to the Museum, exploring ancient to contemporary collection areas and special exhibitions in preparation for giving tours to 7th grade students from Travis during the twelfth visit. At times, students also complete special interpretive projects on works of art in the collections. Each year, several Travis students continue a relationship with the DMA through the Summer Teen Docent Program.
