Today at the Museum

South Dallas Cultural Center

The Dallas Museum of Art collaborates with the South Dallas Cultural Center during their annual five-week Summer Arts at the Center program. Each summer the projects and activities are tailored to the program’s central theme, connecting students to related artists and artworks in the DMA's collections and special exhibitions.

During the 2009 Summer Arts at the Center program, DMA staff worked with a select group of teens to create an interactive presentation on the program’s topic, the Middle Passage. The group worked collaboratively to research, write, and design the presentation, and selected artworks from the Museum's African collections to highlight specific themes and ideas.

The Dallas Museum of Art is supported in part by the generosity of Museum members and donors and by the citizens of Dallas through the City of Dallas/Office of Cultural Affairs and the Texas Commission on the Arts.
