What are the public hours?
Hours vary during the year. Appointments are recommended; please call 214-922-1277.

Can I check books out of the library?

No, the Mayer Library is non-circulating.

Does the library have information on every work of art in the Museum's collections?
Although the library's holdings reflect the Museum's collections, the library does not have written documentation on each piece. Most artists are represented in the library, as are the major ethnographic or cultural areas supporting the holdings of the Dallas Museum of Art.

Can the library help me with conservation of my artwork or books?
The library does have books and articles on the subject of conservation, but we cannot give you specific advice on your pieces. We suggest you look at these Web sites:

Where can I find a reproduction of an artwork?
The Museum Store sells postcards and posters of some of the works in the DMA's collections. If you are interested in a reproduction of a piece not owned by the Museum, there are several options. First, check the Web for sites like
www.corbis.com or www.barewalls.com that sell thousands of prints and posters by well-known (and not so well known) artists. Another resource is the museum that owns the work; try to locate the institution that owns the piece and contact their store. Finally, check a frame shop or poster shop. Many have catalogs of posters and prints available from all over the world.

How do I research a piece of art owned by the Dallas Museum of Art?
